Rosie's gay cruise
I watched a little bit of a special on HBO yesterday called, "Rosie O'Donnell's Cruise for Gay Families". I tivo'd the show to finish watching it at a later time, but what I did see really moved me to tears and get me really angry enough to shout outloud, "WWWP?? " The piece of the special that I did watch showed the cruise ship coming to port in Nassau, Bahamas, a place where my husband and I went on our honeymoon via a cruise ship. As I saw the familair colors of Nassau it brought me great joy and memories of my husband and I taking photos of the sunrise as we cruised into port. Slowly my sweet memories faded away as they showed local bohemians protesting gay people with signs of hatred as they came off the ship. It was just so hateful and the worst was that it was so called "christians" who were protesting. It was sad b/c it was men and women who were with their children trying to have a family vacation and these people were yelling hateful things and holding up hateful signs. The only good I see coming from all of those hateful people were that these children of gay men and women will one day be a generation of people who won't have to go through this kind of hate and can live in a world where there are less people who believe being gay is wrong. I just don't understand why people have to be so hateful and mean towards people who are just like you and me except for they are gay.
Here is an article about the show I watched, http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/03/arts/television/03rosi.html
