What's wrong with people?

I find myself asking the question, what's wrong with people? all of the time. I thought I would share my experiences with others who might be asking the same question to themselves or to their loved ones when they witness something unique, strange, or just plain stupid.

too close on the metro

Why is it that there are 100 or more empty seats on the metro and the biggest dude has to sit next to me on the metro?? I just don't understand it, WWWP? Don't people have some common courtesy when it comes to this issue? It's like when you go to a movie theater and there are empty seats through out the whole theater and the tallest guy/gal has to sit right in front of you? I stand at 5'4" and it's not easy to see the screen when someone sits in front of you in a theater, at a concert, at a sporting event, let alone a tall person in front of you.

life goes on :)

Rosie's gay cruise

I watched a little bit of a special on HBO yesterday called, "Rosie O'Donnell's Cruise for Gay Families". I tivo'd the show to finish watching it at a later time, but what I did see really moved me to tears and get me really angry enough to shout outloud, "WWWP?? " The piece of the special that I did watch showed the cruise ship coming to port in Nassau, Bahamas, a place where my husband and I went on our honeymoon via a cruise ship. As I saw the familair colors of Nassau it brought me great joy and memories of my husband and I taking photos of the sunrise as we cruised into port. Slowly my sweet memories faded away as they showed local bohemians protesting gay people with signs of hatred as they came off the ship. It was just so hateful and the worst was that it was so called "christians" who were protesting. It was sad b/c it was men and women who were with their children trying to have a family vacation and these people were yelling hateful things and holding up hateful signs. The only good I see coming from all of those hateful people were that these children of gay men and women will one day be a generation of people who won't have to go through this kind of hate and can live in a world where there are less people who believe being gay is wrong. I just don't understand why people have to be so hateful and mean towards people who are just like you and me except for they are gay.

Here is an article about the show I watched, http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/03/arts/television/03rosi.html

Another annoyance on the metro

Yesterday morning I sat on the metro and by the second stop someone sat next to me. Not sure why he had to sit next to me when there were empty seats everywhere, but he did. Every metro rider knows the rules that if the metro isn't packed then don't sit next to someone if there are empty seats around you? WTF- basic silent rule of riding the metro...god! So this guy sits next to me and starts crowding my space while pushing and getting stuff out of his bag, then he proceeds to kick back and rest his legs on the bar in front of me. WTF. So I am feeling a bit claustrophobic- like I am trapped by his bag and legs. Then...it gets better. He starts hacking and coughing and doesn't even cover his mouth. Does this guy have no manners? WTF So, I got up and stood the rest of my metro ride. He was just annoying and grossing me out, I just couldn't take it anymore - I had to get out of there and fast! WWWP? I know this person may not have seemed all that bad compared to some of the people that ride the metro, but for some reason this guy hit a nerve!

Metro rider: What's Wrong With People?

I find myself asking the question, what's wrong with people? all of the time . I ask myself this question or I ask my husband this question after witnessing some idiotic act that just makes me ask what's wrong with people?. Someone cuts someone off in traffic and almost causes an accident, What's wrong with people? Someone gives an attitude for no reason, What's wrong with people? A person drives while obviously intoxicated and won't hand over the wheel, What's wrong with people? I just found myself asking this question all too often. I thought I would share my experiences with others who might be asking the same question to themselves or to their loved ones when they witness something unique, strange, or just plain stupid.

Last night, my husband and I were on the metro and after witnessing something absolutely disgusting (more on that occurrence later) and found myself asking the same old question, what’s wrong with people? I decided I would blog our metro encounter as the first entry of many, I am calling my blog - "What's wrong with people?"(WWWP).

So, last night on the metro - Vienna to Metro Center - a woman sat diagonal from my husband and I on the metro, a rather large unkempt and distraught woman. She seemed innocent enough, but then after she put on her lip-gloss in the most bizarre way with one hand and no mirror she proceeded to pick her nose, roll her fingers and throw whatever she found in her nose on the metro floor. She not only did this once, but multiple times. WWWP? I don't understand why someone would want to do such a gross personal thing on the metro in public. I have seen some gross stuff on the metro before such as a homeless guy urinating in the corner who obviously couldn't hold himself any longer and could care less about what he did in public. This woman we saw on the metro last night had no shame in her game. She just couldn't wait to dig in her nose multiple times and share her gold with the rest of us metro users. WWWP?
